Transport
The port city of Fremantle (or "Freo" as it is usually called by locals) is located at the mouth of the Swan River on the West Australian coast. It is a part of the Perth metropolitan area. The Perth Central Business District (CBD) is ~20 kms from Fremantle- about 25-45 minutes by car, or 20-30 minutes by train.HWWS-specific transport information on how to get from the Perth CBD to Fremantle appears on this page.
For general transportation information, please see the ASM transport page.
Bus
Buses 103, 106, and 107 run through the Perth CBD to the bus depot outside the Fremantle train station. Buses 103 and 107 run along Stirling Highway by UWA, while the 106 proceeds down Canning Highway on the other side of the Swan river."Circle Route" Buses 98 and 99 travel in opposite directions around a large loop which includes stops at UWA and Fremantle train station (but not in the CBD).
Within Fremantle, there is a free "CAT" bus that goes around a loop past many of the local tourist attractions.
Train
Transperth trains depart from Perth station at Wellington St in the CBD, for the Fremantle station about every 10-30 mins, depending on the time of day. Transit time is about 20-30 mins.
